When considering a career in pharmacy, one must first decided which type of career they wish to pursue. While some programs are condensed and take less time to finish, like pharmacy technician training with an education requirement of two years, others take longer to accomplish, such as pharmacist training which can take up to eight years. Furthermore, one can even work in the pharmaceutical field as drug representatives or researchers, without actually being employed in a pharmacy. One pharmaceutical career that is rewarding, but takes less time to complete is the pharmacy technician program. On average, this program takes approximately two years to complete. It is often offered online or in community colleges, and participants must usually possess a high-school diploma in order to begin this training. Pharmacy technicians are taught about methods of dispersal, pharmaceutical calculations, patient rights and privacy, and other information that is relevant to the pharmaceutical field. Textbook costs are usually cheaper for tihs program, because of the fact that it is extremely shorter than pharmacist training. In addition, pharmacy technicians can also become certified, and some states even require you to do so.

The main pharmaceutical career that everyone acknowledges is that of a pharmacist. In order to become a pharmacist, students must first complete a Bachelor’s degree and then advance their education at a 4-year School of Pharmacy.
